…There is Always Dust…

July 26, 2016

“It’s your road and yours alone. Others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you.” Rumi

…I thought I would walk the path of life hand in hand with my mate…

…Always in the same direction, company for life, a shared journey…

…It would be a nice road that we build ourselves, smooth, nonresistant…

…No populated well traveled road for us, we’ll forge our own…

..But, when you build something from scratch, there is always dust…

…It creeps into every crevice, disorients, separates…

…I did not count on the dust…

…I discovered that only I walk in my shoes…

…No one has the same view, the same gait, or the same grit…

…It is ultimately up to me to get through the grime…

…To find my course and my limits…

…My journey, although going the same direction of my mate…

…Is solely mine…

Nicely written. The last line really moved me… It’s true.. we all have our own journeys at the end.

I too love how you put words together that so accurately capture the essence of life. Thanks for uplifting me with them. Hope the dust you and your mate each create is at least blowing in the same direction! 🙂

I think right now the dust is settling, but there will always be more, we have to keep creating right? So, all good!

I love this “..But, when you build something from scratch, there is always dust…” I really like how your words give expression to my experiences, I am dealing with the dust now and just like you I did not count on the dust. Thanks so much for this

Glad you liked it!! I am having a tough time lately getting ahead. The dust has seemed to clear here, and now dealing with the aftermath is a bit time consuming. I’d much rather be writing and reading!

I am glad and grateful that the dust is clearing. It is always great spending time in the dust because when it settles we see things a bit clearer. Can’t wait to read more of your work after this 🙂
