…My Wish…

March 21, 2017

“I think I could turn and live with animals, they are so placid and self-contain’d, I stand and look at them long and long. They do not sweat and whine about their condition, They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins, They do not make me sick discussing their duty to God, Not one is dissatisfied, not one is demented with the mania of owning things, Not one kneels to another, nor to his kind that lived thousands of years ago, Not one is respectable or unhappy over the whole earth.” ― Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass: The “Death-Bed” Edition

I think I have used this quote before, it is one of my favorites…I find that the older I get, the more alone I like to be.  I feel the wants of others, and that energy that radiates from people is always a convoluted mess.  I guess that is why I love this quote; animals, as do young children, just have pure energy, they exude the truth.  Yes, they all have emotions, but their actions, words, and passions are always in sync with who they are.  You don’t have to wonder if a dog needs attention, is lonely, or happy…you just know.

…I tire of feeling all that which flows out of  most human adults, a contrary chi spewing out with the exhale of words…

…and having to do the same just to keep the peace…

…My wish…my wish is that we all could just recognize our true self and be that all the time…
